Forthcoming Events for February

Go Green Week

9 - 13 February

Events:
  1. Daily 'Green' menu option on all three Greenwich University campuses: The main ingredients of the 'Green' menu options will be either locally produced or fairtrade produce.
  2. Eco Footprint stall: From 12pm to 2pm on Monday and Thursday in Pilkington. Come along to have your eco footprint measured and make a pledge to reduce the size of your footprint. These pledges will be sent to the Vice Chancellor to demonstrate the environmental commitment of the university's students and staff.
  3. Fairtrade stall: Monday and Tuesday in Pilkington. Buy responsibly by supporting fairtrade produce.
Purpose:
The purpose of our first Go Green Week is to raise awareness of the society and what we are campaigning for, i.e. the appointment of a full-time environmental officer; greater environmental awareness amongst staff and students and generally a 'greener' university. If you can help out in any way during the week, please let us know, or just come along and support us at some stage during the week. Hope to see you all next week.

Forthcoming Events for December

Swap Shop
Date: 1 December 2008
Venue: PK107
Time: 12pm - 2pm

This is a great idea (thanks Kate!) where staff and students bring in unwanted clothes, accessories, cds, dvds etc and swap them for FREE for other items. It is a great way to reuse goods, reduce landfill and anything left over goes to charity. There will also be make-up sessions for a minimal fee of £3 for anyone interested in that sort of thing. We are working with other societies such as the RAG society and Amnesty International to drum up more support for the event and for the various societies involved. However, we still need volunteers to help out on the day or even before hand giving out flyers, etc. So please let us know if you can give even 30 minutes of your time.

Forthcoming Events for November

Speaker: Leilani Weier, Environmental Officer, Linklaters LLP
Date: 27 November 2008
Venue: PK014
Time: 6-7pm
Topic:
Corporate Environmental Responsibility: Small changes which can make a big
difference.

This FREE talk will look at Linklaters (a global law firm) environmental improvements, the hurdles along the way and why it's important for big firms to think green . Please let us know if you are interested in coming along.
